All You Need to Know About Voltage Stabilizer
Voltage fluctuation is a common problem all over India; it damages our electric home appliances as well as puts an adverse effect on industrial machinery. In that scenario voltage stabilizers have become a need for every home and industry too.
Voltage stabilizer is an electrical device which is used to provide a constant voltage output to a load at its output terminals irrespective of any change/ fluctuation in the input i.e. incoming supply. Voltage stabilizer manufacturers make it reduce harm that occurs due to power fluctuation.
The basic purpose of a voltage stabilizer is to protect the electrical and electronic gadgets like Air conditioning Unit, Refrigerator, TV from the probable damage due to voltage fluctuations, Over Voltage and under voltage conditions.
In short voltage stabilizers regulate the fluctuating input voltage before it could be fed to the load. The output voltage from the stabilizer will stay in the range of 220V or 230V in case of single phase supply and 380V or 400V in case of three phase supply.
Voltage Stabilizers are broadly categorised in two types the details are given following section.
Servo Voltage Stabilizers: The rolling contact type voltage stabilizer is an extremely relevant component for units facing electricity fluctuations. This is a stabilizer which prevents direct exposure and reduces the possibility of breakdown as even a minor fluctuation can cause severe damage to the entire system. Rolling contact type stabilizer shields appliances by maintaining a proper voltage supply output during the time of power fluctuation.
Relay Voltage Stabilizers: In this type of voltage stabilizers, voltage regulation is accomplished by switching the relays so as to connect one of a number of tapping of the transformer to the load whether it is for boosting or bucking operation. The figure below illustrates the internal circuitry of the relay type stabilizer.
It has an electronic circuit and set of relays besides the transformer. The electronic circuit comprises rectifier circuit, operational amplifier, micro-controller unit, and other tiny components.
